Inti Raymi and City tour Cusco in 3 days - 2026 Description

Introduction

The 3-day Inti Raymi tour is an ideal way to experience one of Cusco's most important traditions: the grand Festival of the Sun. This celebration, held every June 24th, brings together more than 700 participants including actors, dancers, and musicians who re-enact a ritual of gratitude to the Sun god for the crops and harvests received during the past year, as well as a prayer for abundance and prosperity in the new cycle.

Before enjoying the main performance, you will have the opportunity to visit some of the most important temples and archaeological sites surrounding the city of Cusco. The visit begins at the Temple of Qoricancha, a place full of mystery and spiritual significance, from which the Inti Raymi celebration originates.

Afterward, we will visit the Inca ruins of Sacsayhuamán, a fortress of great historical importance and one of the best viewpoints over the imperial city. The tour continues to Qenqo, Pucapucara, and Tambomachay.

Throughout the 3-day Inti Raymi tour, our tour guide will provide detailed information about the history and highlights of each site you visit, along with valuable tips to help you make the most of the Inti Raymi experience.

The tour continues to Qenqo, a ceremonial center and sacred amphitheater associated with the cult of the puma and ancient Inca rituals. We will then visit Pucapucara, known as the "red fortress," which during Inca times served as a control point and lookout over the roads connecting to the Sacred Valley.

Following the road itinerary, we will arrive at Tambomachay, an archaeological site renowned for its advanced hydraulic system, considered a place of water worship and a testament to the great ingenuity of Inca engineering.

At the end of the tour through the archaeological sites surrounding the imperial city, we will transfer you back to your hotel, where you can rest and prepare for the main event of the following day: the Inti Raymi.

Day 2: DAY 2: FESTIVAL OF THE SUN – INTI RAYMI 2026

The main day has arrived and one of Cusco's most important rituals begins: the Inti Raymi. The day starts early at the Temple of the Sun, the Qoricancha, where the representation of the Inca clergy prepares to launch the grand Festival of the Sun. At the same time, more than 700 artists dancers and musicians alike get ready to take part in this impressive ancestral performance.

On the second day of our 3-day Inti Raymi tour, our tour guide will be waiting for you at approximately 8:00 a.m. to accompany you to the first venue of the celebration: the Qoricancha. From here you will be able to enjoy the event with greater comfort. The performance at this venue usually takes place between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

The second venue is the Plaza de Armas in Cusco, approximately between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. In this space, the Inca clergy performs the ceremonial greeting to the city's authorities and representatives, bestowing blessings for the well-being and prosperity of the people.

The final venue is the fortress of Sacsayhuamán, where the main Inti Raymi event takes place. This ceremony runs approximately from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is the most representative moment of the entire celebration.

During this celebration, in addition to witnessing the ritual in honor of the Sun god, you will also be able to observe one of Cusco's most representative culinary traditions, which takes place exclusively during the month of June: the huatia. This ancestral dish is prepared in earth ovens and consists of potatoes and other Andean produce such as oca, olluco, and broad beans, typically accompanied by the traditional frutillada a typical Cusco beverage made from strawberries.

At the end of the Inti Raymi, our tour guide will accompany you back to your hotel in our transport so you can rest and recover your energy.
