The Sacred Valley tour is one of the most fascinating experiences you can have in Cusco. Throughout this journey, you'll get an up-close look at the customs, history, and landscapes held within this territory, considered sacred by the Incas.
To kick off this adventure, our tour guide and transport unit will pick you up at your hotel between 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning. Once we're all set, we'll head out toward the Sacred Valley, leaving the city of Cusco behind as Andean landscapes begin to accompany us throughout the day.
Pisac Archaeological Park
The first stop on our route will be Pisac, an archaeological site perched high on a mountain, with a privileged view over the Vilcanota River. As you walk through its different sectors, you'll discover how the Incas managed to tame the mountain: agricultural terraces carved into the hillside, aqueducts, ceremonial gateways, water channels, and ancient cemeteries that still hold the mystery of that civilization. It's an ideal spot to pause for a moment and enjoy the panoramic views the valley has to offer.
Pisac Market
We'll then head down to the town of Pisac, where its traditional craft market awaits. Along its streets you'll find handwoven textiles, pottery, silver jewelry, musical instruments, and organic products from the area. You'll have free time to walk around, chat with local artisans, and, why not, take home a souvenir made by the valley's own people.
Lunch in Urubamba
We'll continue along the Vilcanota River until we reach Urubamba, known as the "Pearl of the Valley." There, a delicious buffet lunch awaits, featuring Andean and international dishes made with fresh local products, in a peaceful setting that invites you to rest before continuing the adventure.
Ollantaytambo Fortress
In the afternoon we'll arrive in Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved archaeological complexes in all of Peru. This ancient fortified citadel holds a ceremonial temple, extensive farming terraces, and a residential area that remains inhabited to this day. We'll explore the Araqama Ayllu, the religious sector home to the famous Temple of the Sun, and the Qosqo Ayllu, the residential sector with its original Inca streets and water channels. Walking through its streets feels like stepping back in time, letting you sense, even if just for a moment, what life was like in the Inca era.
Chinchero: Weaving and Archaeology
On the way back to Cusco, we'll make one final stop in Chinchero, a town set on a plateau with a spectacular view of the Vilcabamba mountain range. There, we'll visit a textile center where local weavers will walk you step by step through the entire ancestral process: washing and spinning the wool, dyeing it with natural pigments, and finally weaving it on a loom. A unique opportunity to see with your own eyes a tradition that has remained alive since pre-Columbian times.
Afterward, we'll visit the Chinchero Archaeological Complex, once the property of the Inca Túpac Yupanqui. Here, Inca and colonial architecture coexist in harmony: its farming terraces blend with a colonial church built on Inca foundations, decorated with murals from the early years of the Colonial era. A perfect way to close out the day while reflecting on the history and evolution of this wonderful valley.
Finally, we'll head back to Cusco, arriving at approximately 7:00 p.m., with the satisfaction of having experienced one of the most complete tours the region has to offer.
