Introduction
The Inca Trail tour is a spectacular experience that must be done at least once in a lifetime. It covers a distance of 42 km from km 82 to the Citadel of Machu Picchu.
People from all over the world come to Peru to do the trekking to Machu Picchu, and due to the daily limit of 500 people, permits sell out far in advance. That is why it is important to plan it 3 to 4 months ahead, depending on the time of year.
We are tour operators of the Inca Trail, with offices in Cusco, which allows us to provide excellent service at a very good price.
Very Important:
Although the Inca Trail Expedition Regulations state that the Inca Trail reservation must be made 4 days in advance, it is highly recommended to book well in advance. During the high season, availability runs out approximately 90 days before departure. This is because only 500 people are allowed per day, ensuring the preservation of the trail from erosion and pollution, as well as protecting the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. Therefore, it is necessary to pay for permits in advance.
At 6:30 a.m., our guide will pick you up from your hotel and transport you by bus to Km. 82, where we will arrive at approximately 10:00 a.m. At this location, we will have the pleasure of meeting the team that will accompany us on our trek, including porters, tent assistants, cooks, and more. We will then begin our hike.
Early in the morning, after our energizing breakfast, we resume the trail. Half an hour into the hike, we will reach the archaeological site of Runqurakay. From this point, the path is paved with stones. In some sections, it is up to 2 meters wide, showcasing the impressive quality of Inca engineering. We will visit Sayacmarca, a beautiful architectural complex, and pass through a tunnel carved into the mountain rock to reach the archaeological site of Phuyupatamarca. From here, the descent begins along a highly scenic path with lush vegetation from the cloud forest, rich in flora and fauna. After about two hours, we will arrive at Wiñayhuayna, where we will set up our third and final campsite.
After breakfast, we will continue the hike until we reach Intipunku (Sun Gate), from where we will have a spectacular view of the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu. We will descend on foot, then have approximately a 2-hour guided tour of the most important sites with your guide, after which you can explore the mysterious city at your own pace.
