Humantay Lake Full Day 2026 Summary

  • 5:00 a.m.: Pickup from Cusco and transfer to Mollepata.
  • 7:00 a.m.: Breakfast in Mollepata.
  • 9:00 a.m.: Arrival in Soraypampa and hike preparation.
  • 10:00 a.m.: Hike to Humantay Lake (4200 m.a.s.l.) with scenic views.

Detailed Itinerary: Trek Humantay Lagoon

Day 1: Full Day Trek to Humantay Lake from Cusco

inca-trail-entranceOur Humantay Lake Tour begins with hotel pickup in Cusco at approximately 4:30 a.m. We will board our tourist transport and start our journey to Mollepata, a trip of about 2 hours. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a delicious and energizing breakfast.

Next, we will register and pay the entrance fee for the Salkantay route before continuing our journey toward Humantay Lake. We will drive to Soraypampa, a one-hour ride on a dirt road, while admiring panoramic views of the stunning Salkantay and Humantay snow-capped mountains, as well as scenic valleys along the route.

Once we arrive in Soraypampa, we will prepare for our hike to Humantay Lake. The trek takes approximately one hour as we gradually ascend through breathtaking landscapes, mountains, and ravines, under the protection of Apu Salkantay. We will reach the turquoise Humantay Lake, located at 4,300 meters (14,107 feet) above sea level, at the base of Humantay Mountain.

We will have about two hours to explore this magical place, take countless photos from every angle, and, if possible, even dip into the icy waters while our experienced guide provides insightful information.

After enjoying our time at the lake, we will begin our descent and return to Mollepata, where we will have a delicious lunch at 2:00 p.m. Then, we will take our transport back to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 p.m., where we will drop you off near the Plaza de Armas.
